ONCE UPON A TIME...
Rio Salado in Algeria: Our roots as winemakers
The name “BOUR” comes originally from the Lorraine region of France. Christophe BOUR, our ancestor, left at a young age his hometown of Lening in the department of Moselle to join the army and left for Algeria in 1846. After 10 years in the army, he received a land grant in Tlemcen.
His grandson Paul came to live in the Rio Salado, a prime winemaking area, where he married Mathilde ROSELLO, who came from a Spanish winemaking family.
Henri BOUR, their son, married Odette ORSERO, whose origins are from Italy and Provence, also from a winemaking family.
“ Therefore, all of the roots of the BOUR family bathe in wine”.
