Alluvial terraces from the Pliocene epoch consisting of pebbles, cobblestones, fallen rocks and larger rocks from landslides, based in limestone soil.
End of September, at full maturity of our oldest Grenache and Syrah vines (45 years or older).
Syrah (50%) and Grenache (50%)
Traditional vinification of each varietal separately with complete destemming.
Fermentation in temperature controlled concrete tanks between 25° and 30°C.
A 3 weeks long fermentation with frequent pumping over or rack and return to achieve a good extraction.
Aged in 228 liter French oak barrels for 12 months.
Beautiful and deep garnet color.
Powerful nose, characteristics of red fruit and torréfaction, garrigue, and earthy tones. Also toasted and vanilla notes. The wine is full bodied with a rich and soft structure, very elegant. On the palate this wine has a nice a nice freshness and soft, well-rounded tannins. This wine can be appreciated young or with aging. One can perceive fruity jam-like notes, grilled bread, licorice, and perhaps herbal notes of underbrush.
Aging potential for 6 to 8 years.
